Welcome to Police Kids Co. — formerly Police Kids Books and shop.

I officially rebranded and transitioned to the Shopify platform to create a better, more seamless shopping experience for our community. As the brand grew, it became clear that what started as a single book had evolved into so much more. Police Kids Co. now represents a full collection of thoughtfully designed products created to support, celebrate, and connect first responder families — far beyond books alone.

While the name may be new, the heart behind it has always been the same. I’m Donna — founder, creator, author, and the one behind Police Kids Co.

I am a law enforcement officer’s wife, and law enforcement runs deep in our family. In 2019, when we welcomed our first son, I quickly learned how emotional and challenging irregular law-enforcement hours could be — especially at bedtime. On the nights his daddy wasn’t home, I wanted something special to read to him; something that would help him eventually understand why his daddy wasn’t there and what his daddy did to serve others. 

When I couldn’t find the book I was looking for, I decided to create it myself.

That moment led to the creation of Police Kids Books, beginning with my original (and still best-selling) title, My Daddy Is a Police Officer. What started as one book for my own child quickly grew into something much bigger. I found an incredible community of law enforcement families who shared the same experiences, emotions, and pride — and reaching homes like ours became a true gift.

Today, PoliceKidsBooks.com remains home to all of my original book titles, where you can browse the full collection. Each book is available for purchase through Amazon, and the books are intentionally kept separate from the Police Kids Co. shop as the brand has expanded into a wide range of additional products.

As the stories grew, so did the brand. From books, I expanded into Blue Buddy, swaddles, and eventually into bamboo pajamas, daywear, blankets, accessories, and so much more — all personally designed by me, with first responder families in mind. Every item is created with love, intention, and an understanding of what it means to raise a child in a law enforcement family.

What I love most is hearing from you — seeing your photos, reading your messages, and knowing these products are being worn, loved, and shared by families who get it.

Giving back is at the heart of everything I do. Every purchase supports law enforcement causes — including nonprofits, charities, department events, fundraisers, and more — because I truly believe in giving back to our heroes and the families who stand beside them.
